EpcotServo's Updates #3.5- Train Man
UNIVERSAL
-New Universal entry sign, very nice.
-Weather cold and windy, crowds not very bad.
-Had more amazing experiences with Team Members than usual on this day, had loads of amazing interactions and even had a magic moment at Transformers where we got express'ed on just for bein' around, so super amazing thanks to the loads of great Team Members out there that made a usual parkvisit just a little extra special.
MAGIC KINGDOM
-Hub is super torn up. Castle Crane up as well.
-Tiki, Country Bears, Progress, Peoplemover!
-Mine Train is still Mine Trainey
-Got stuck for nearly twenty minutes on Pirates right before Unload, which was the fun part of an interesting Pirates experience-Including a grouper who wanted to stuff four large adults into the FIRST row, which we the guests had to instruct isn't humanly possible. And to top it off, we got SOAKED at the bottom of the drop. I don't mean the "Ha, Pirates was a little splashy today!" wet, I mean drenched. Only getting stuck at the end helped to dry my jeans out before leaving. Thankfully we got a re-ad, but either Pirates was having a terrible night or George the ghost was having a laugh. Yeah, interesting ride on Pirates.
-Got FerstPassesPlus online this time, worked out really well. Got on Mansion, Pirates, and Big Thunder with them.
-As an aside, the beach shacks along the Polynesian waterfront are pretty visually appalling from around Bay Lake. Blergh.
-It was still a great night for Kingdom though.
-Huzzah!

EpcotServo's Updates #2.97- Dragone with the Wind
Hey everybody, it's that Updatetime again! Let's get on with the Dragone. Dragon. Whatever.
UNIVERSAL
-Crowds lots and many.
-Heat mostly and very hotly.
-Diagon Alley! So great. Much better than the first Potterlands, and needless to say exceedingly great in many things.
-Only complaints are that there's only like 3 benches in the whole land, and still isn't my Jaws.
-Knockturn Alley, Butterbeer Icecream, and the GlowSnails. Best.
-On first day we went at park opening and had to get a return ticket, last time was around 5 and walked right in.
-Gringott's! Lucked out and got on rested and ready for waiting with a posted wait of 120, only waited an hour and a half. This ride is SPECTACULAR. It may not be my favorite ride ever, but it's without a doubt one of the best rides ever made. It's Universal's least jarring thrill ride that's still scary and cool. It doesn't beat you up and assault your senses like most Universal thrill rides, it's more smooth and controlled and all around thrilling. It's one of the most perfect Dark Rides, and is in the rare caliber of ride with Indiana Jones Adventure, Tower of Terror, and other amazing rides.
-ALL HAIL THE GLOWSNAILS.

EpcotServo's Updates #2.96- Central and Universal
Hello everybody and welcome to the time of the Update! Lots to think on, so get thinking on it!
UNIVERSAL
-Crowds mild, weather hot but windy!
-Hogwarts Express soft opening!
-So in the realm of operational fact, the ride runs great and the crew really worked wonderfully in getting people on and out, the waits were short and flew by. I foresee this being how most everyone will parkhop.
-In the realm of opinion, I personally loved it. I'm not really a big Harry Potter fan at all, I have many a peeve about almost everything that isn't contained in books 3 and 4, but I got goosebumps seeing the train pull up for the first time! It's really cool, and what's best/most interesting is that the experience itself is calm, sedate, and enjoyable. It's not loud and brash like every single other Universal thing, as I have come to love them for. It's really amazing, and I can't recommend it enough. Second favorite Universal ride still in operation, right after....
-Men in Black! Still could use a rehab, had some synching and AV problems. But still, I love it.
-Frozen Butterbeer still the drink of choice.
-Once again I find my opinion steadfast that they ruined Spiderman. The pace of the ride is all bjorked up, and it's not the beat-for-beat perfection it used to be. The graphics looking better doesn't save it for me, I really loved the original's rhythm.
-Yep, that's about it.

EpcotServo's Updates #2.79-Bigger, Badder, Botter
UNIVERSAL
-Transformers Passholder Preview Hour was a bit of a cluster, but they did their best to keep it together. Kudos to the event staff and ride crew for keeping calm under pressure!
-The ride is still awesome, but after getting one perfect ride in, both other rides were pretty majorly wonky. The best of which, bad block timing and sound dropping out, but then in the Lift down it rotated backwards from the screen (Forward position since the ride vehicle itself is traveling backwards for the entirety of the second floor) so basically getting to see both levels as you travel downwards, as well as the AMAZING lift mechanisms in the center. Yeah, it was really cool. I love that stuff.
-Universal rides without sound are hilarious, because you can tell how loud they are normally. It's like bobbing and rocking in a big quiet empty room.
-The crew was really superb keeping their calm even when everything went Fubar with the ride. Some bad quick saves were upsetting people, but offering rerides to everyone will do that, and that was a nice gesture but really gunks up the works.
-Men In Black is still my favorite Universal ride since Jaws closed.
-Hot. Stinky. Crowded.
-Mummy and MIB walk-ons are best. Then leave, quickly!

EpcotServo's Updates #2.78- Robot Rollout
UNIVERSAL
-Weather was hot and schtanky, followed by Afternoon Rain-Type Storms
-TRANSFORMERS! Is awesome. Definitely a perfect Universal ride and really good. It's pretty much just Spiderman, but with Robots so it's more interesting. Definitely not the best ride ever-It doesn't have many practical sets at all,and Star Tours still has better 3D and display (Note: Both made by ILM, so still flawless) but a solid Universal Studios addition and much better, a needed foray with giant robots and great for Transformers fans.
-STARSCREAMM YOU COWARD!
-Also note hilarious Universal Pre-Shows, wherein they threaten you with Jail for trashing the queue, that everyone will think less of you if you chicken yet, and a screaming crazy guy telling you FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T RIDE THIS RIDDDEEE! (Best)
-Simpsons Fast Food Place is pretty good, didn't eat there yet but Buzz Cola was tasty and the area nice. Not amazing, but nice.

-Men In Black still amazing, still could use a rehab though too.
-There seemed to be a Pyro misfire during Cinematic Spectacular, and no fireworks for the rest of the whole show. Still a great show without it!

EpcotServo's Updates #2.71-A New Day (And IOA)

-Crowds were Medium to "Oi, what's all these people doing here!"

-Men In Black is still great, but it is showing it's need for a RehabTime.
-They were painting the Woody Woodpecker Nuthouse Coaster (yes) and the nuthouse (...) smelled quite foul.
-E.T. Homeworld Aliens voted "Most Worthy of Extermination" by the Dalek Intergalactic Readers' Poll
-Transformers is forming (HA!)
-Coaster Track at the HSBC Banking Thrill Ride Adventure is quite visible now.
-Zoom Zoom Zoom!
-The ROTM new entrance signage is really great!
-Fun
-Suess Landing is looking quite painted.
-I wonder how many hundreds of parents take pictures of their children climbing on the big Griffon that says "DO NOT CLIMB" on it ever crop that out of the picture.
-Frozen Butterbeer still delicious
-Alot is spoken in high praise for Potterland, but the Locker Dungeons of Forbidden Journey is the worst area possibly ever designed in a Theme Park. It's frustration hellbox when one smoothly enters and exits it, let alone when it's bad.
-Forbidden Journey also felt a little laggy, more jarring than usual.
-LOUD NOISES!
-Other stuff.

EpcotServo's Updates #2.64-Announce and Rollout
UNIVERSAL
-ANNOUNCEMENT! The announcement was pretty fantastic. Well teased in the evening by soundbites of a transmission interrupting the show announcements. It was pretty cool, and I love these one-day-only-had-to-be-there-events like this. I wish all parks would do it like this and announce to the PEOPLE of the park rather than beyond a closed off event-area. It should be for the peeps in the park as much as the media!
-I'm pretty excited for Transformers. I can understand an intense and rational apathy of aversion to the movies, but Transformers are pretty darn cool. They just are. Giant Robot Charter of 1862 says so. You should be excited for this.
-Cinematic Spectacular lasers are laseriffic and make the show even better
-Horror makeup show is a great little classic Universal gem to see every now and again.
-LoudSpinnyJumbotron, where did you go, and why is it quieter at CityWalk now?
-The walkaround Transformers will be worth your time as well.
-Wreck-It-Ralph is in theaters. GO SEE IT. You WILL enjoy. IMMENSELY.
-Crowds were light, Weather seasonably cool, Stars out at night, +/- Cloudy or bright
-Universal, I'm happy for you, and ImmaLetYouFinish, but Firehouse Subs makes the BEST BROWNIES of ALL TIME.

EpcotServo's Updates #2.62- Transformers Maybe?
UNIVERSAL
-There ain't not no such thing as Transformers, ain't no way, ain't no how! Go away!
-The giant show buildings and cranes can easily be described as Pelican farts reflecting a lighthouse off of swamp gas.
-After three rides I'd just like to log the actual Simulator portion of Despicable Me as the worst Simulator in Universal's lineage. (The entire show package is good, but as a standalone ridefilm I mean) The film has too straight forward a motion, and way too much Body Wars pitch forward/back motion. Having been on all of Universal's simulator types/Single shot ridefilms I'd just like to put that on record.
-Men In Black could probably use some of that fancy ComCash(TM) to clean up the roof of the Load area, maybe the whole ride.
-I like seeing entertainment out, especially the animals they have. (But mostly the owl)
-STILL THE LOUDEST PLACE ON EARTH
-They've changed the Fireplace Teleportaion effect in Forbidden Journey, instead of shifting Inception walls as before, it's now just a green floaty light that follows you. It's smoother and a little better really.
-Frozen Butterbeer is still the best HarryPotters anything
-It's nice to see some bits of Suess Landing and Port of Entry getting a good refresh

EpcotServo's Updates #2.57- Solid Summer Society
UNIVERSAL
-Crowds were light. Yay to the end of Summer!
-I still think the pacing of the new Spiderman really takes it down a notch. Plus now in the backrow you can actually see the scoop behind or in front of you, which used to be impossible. The new timing just misses the beats that the original hit so well.
-They've also gone to Police-State measures regarding glasses at Spiderman. You can neither pick up or drop off glasses on your own, they must be handed to or from you as in olden days. NO TOUCHING! No touching.
-I noticed some water effects in Toon Lagoon operating again for the first time in awhile.
-The face capture effect in Forbidden Journey is operating again, IN COLOR.
-There is loads of construction work going on in Universal I won't have many pictures of. I'm an Update, what did you expect?
-Despicable Me was a rare 10 minute wait and decided to ride again. The second time really solidified my opinion that it's a well done ride based on something that shouldn't have a ride. It just falls flat. Neither really funny nor heartwarming. Once again, there seemed to only be tepid reaction. And the Ride Film just doesn't simulator that well. It's all either too straightline action or too much 3D movement leaving you woozy. It's not bad, but as an avid Universal Simulator Fan I don't think it's one of their best. Should have waited and built a Paranorman Dark Ride. (Go see Paranorman by the way, it's excellent!)
-Mummy Sets fire to your brain, watches it burn as it touches your face
-Men In Black Alien Attack is still awesome
-Also really enjoyed second viewing of Cinematic Spectacular. Great show! I did find the double image projection really strange on the first barge, it seems to be clearer on the second and third.
-Stuff

EpcotServo's Updates #2.55- Make Mine Minon
Hello and fare greetings fellow lifeforms! Got alot to get too, so let's ignore the weird greeting, acknowledge it didn't work, and move on!
UNIVERSAL
-Minion Mayhem Passholder Preview! We got there about halfway through the extra morning riding session, and the wait was posted at 30. Was actually about 15-20 minutes. Not bad, but exactly the maximum amount of time I would wait for it. Bringing us too...
-What I thought. Well, it isn't bad. It's a new ride, and that's good. And I enjoyed it. However it's really kind of meh on most levels. While the added preshow is cool (and the best part of the ride content wise) it's a little awkweird because you spend most of your time in pre-shows building up to a vague experience which then happens to be basically a straightline runthrough of all of Universal's simulator and 3D gags.Unlike neutron there's no real plot or world-jumping that gives it an expansive feeling, or cool motion in 3 dimensions like Simpsons, and no overtly awesome vehicle or details like BTTF, and the characters aren't well known like Hanna Barbera. The ride is an improvement in show quality though, and kids will like it. I think it kind of sums it up with my group experience: A general feeling or approval and excitement, met with kind of flat enjoyment. Like it's just kind of alright. Now this is mixed in with about roughly the four only people who actually saw the movie having overtly forced laughter and DAWWWWSSS. (No, these aren't emotional moments. IT'S HARD TO BE MOVED WHEN YOU ARE SHOUTING AT ME!) And on the emotional front, personally I find Terminator 2: 3D to have a better emotional payoff. *Loving hug, and dramatic pose* I think the reasons for these things is all the choice of material. Sure Steve Carrel does a great voiceover, and minions are mildly funny but it really doesn't command attention beyond even just the movie trailer. It's just not the property. It's easy to see why those chose it though, because it's a weight watchers bar of mashed up Pixar tropes, and Universal has always been cold emotionally. Combined with the merch to be made, it was an easy choice. And hey, I have no better suggestion. (Other than the building and coaster should be where Potter is going and Jaws should still be standing.) But it's kind of like a robot reading a bed time story. It does a good job, and it's admirable, but it just isn't their jam. So the result is a ride I had no problems with, but yet have no real urge to do it again.
-Look forward too:
3D glasses humor.
4th-wall breaking "you're in a theme park" story
Good lighting and pre-show staging
-Also, the Team Member costume has goggles. GOGGLES! This is fantastic.
-Soundstage 44 has been compromised
-Lockers. Oy
-There is indeed a new projector at ROTM, in the scarab room. Right now it's CRAZY bright and you can tell how outdated the graphics are, so I'd work on that.
-SpongeBob Storepants is great.
-Terminator 2:3D is always occasionally fun. Front row and that ending is the best!

EpcotServo's Updates #2.53- Universaltasmic!
UNIVERSAL
-Crowds were amazingly, wonderfully low.
-New Spiderman is still well done, but after 3 rides I've decided I really don't like the new pacing and music. The new pacing especially, because now it feels slower and less real. It gives you too much time to be aware you are looking at screens. It isn't bad, I just don't think it really made the ride any better, if anything a step back.
-They've added a million signs and strict enforcement to keep the 3D glasses. You can tell they're a bit more protective of them, because of the Star Tours-glasses-level cost that Disney must absorb easier.
-The face capture effect in Forbidden Journey has been missing for quite a long time now.
-It was an insanely nice day.
-So, Universal's Cinematic Spectacular preview: It was really good! I loved it. Lots of great movies and the fountains and fireworks were indeed spectacular. If I had any complaints it would be they could've gone even longer and more high-concept. Instead of keeping it into short genres, make it a broad tapestry with whole segments devoted to single movies or songs. Also unlike World of Color, don't expect much interaction with the fountains. They really don't interact or blend with the action on-waterscreen. They're just kind of a separate element that drives the show. Other than that, it really is a fun show for movie fans and worth seeing this summer. It'll certainly last longer than 360 seeing as how it's basically an improved version of that show. All in all, In terms of where It'd fall in top Nighttime shows, it isn't in the caliber of World of Color, Illuminations (Though it needs the step up in technology this show offers), or Remember, but is on par with Wishes and such: The perfect and highly entertaining night show for this park. I can't wait to see it some more!

-Flower and Garden this year doesn't seem very lively. Seemed like there wasn't that much.
-Crowds were CrazyGoNuts.

-The new Dumbo area and such is pretty good.

-Crowds were crazy, but thinned out.
-Jaws phto-op is in San Francisco. Kind of out of place, but alright.

-They need to announce dates for the new show already.

EpcotServo's Updates #2.51- Planet of the Spidermen
UNIVERSAL
-Crowds were heavy to extreme. People were piling in more and more so couldn't get an accurate mix, because we beat a hasty retreat after waiting nearly two hours for new Spiderman. (And we only arrived at 9:10. Downtimes and too many express passes clogged what should have been a much shorter wait.)
-So, New Spiderman...What's up with that? Well, lots to go over so feel free to skip if you feel it will spoiler-spoil you. Personally I don't think there's that much to spoil, as it's essentially just a new regeneration. (If you understand that, you can stop reading after I sum it up as such: Old Spiderman was second Doctor, new one is Third. Sure he's cooler and more respectable, but the second was charming and spastic and he's seems funner.)
So the queue is exactly the same, just freshly painted. There's a few new bits and bobs, and the spideyroof room is a darker blue, but that's about it. The biggest change is they removed a very tacky photospot where they had universal's photopass-that's-just-photos-and-no-pass people try and stop you. It was very tacky and I'm glad to say they replaced it with new well-lit award cabinets like what used to be there.
The glasses are brand new of course, and are sort of big chunky fellows with weird wobbly bits and kind of a zig zag thing going on near the ear. I presume these are the same glasses we'll see at Transformers in Hollywood, as the projections and 3D have been lifted from that ride as well.
Speaking of awards, one thing you will find in this version is an abundance of Universal Creative back-patting references. Personally I don't mind it in the slightest, but if we're going to be picky about WDI making a video about a mural, we should probably consider the fact "Mark Woodbury" is on almost everything to be a draw, and a comment on Universal Creative's growing hubris. (Though again, I find it incredibly alright and love little creator touches like that.)
Moving on, the big draw-The new 3D projections and Animation. Putting aside it doesn't quite match up to the queue like it did before, the new animations are great and the projections a significant improvement. There's still some fuzziness and blur, but mostly only in the large ending dome screens. It's especially neat to see trouble scenes like the scream jumping on car part work flawlessly. As good as they are, they aren't near the level of clarity, quality, and impressiveness of the 3D and Animation at Star Tours. Not that they need be, it's a much darker and simpler environ, but if you've been on new Star Tours you probably won't walk away touting the 3D as much as the improved quality over previous Spiderman. Probably the only part I didn't care for as much was the first flying section. The animation is fantastic, but the flight doesn't seem as crazy and fun. It used to be more of a romp, whereas now it's more realistic and dramatic movement.
Favorite part: Lighting and effects! New lighting everywhere, all the effects working (Like the floating box, and all the many fog effects) and the whole ride just looks great. It didn't look bad before, but new lighting and fog effects do wonders. And there's a few new effects and lights too. It all looks fantastic.
Weird part: The pacing and the music. The music is a complete 180 difference, and is more techno and understated. In the first bit it kind of sounds like a Phil Collins/strange ballad song is about to start for some reason. (It took all I had not to whisper "I've been waitingggg for this momentttt for allll my liffeeeee") And the pacing will throw everyone who has this ride down as muscle memory off-kilter: The pacing. It's been entirely reprogrammed, and is now smooth, and moves much slower and less of a spaz. Which is unusual for Universal. It's mostly fine, but you spend longer times looking at the screen and as result you either become more aware you're looking at a screen, or less aware that you are being attacked and in danger. I always say good attractions are like jazz, it's about the notes you don't hit. They've got a rhythm and a flow, and that's the biggest change of this Spiderman. It's great, and I'm sure in time I'll dig it, but I don't know if it's as in-tune.
It kind of sums up my overall thought: They made each individual part of Spiderman better, but since Spiderman was more than the sum of it's parts, does it have that same pizzazz?
I'm excited to keep riding as I am want oft to do, and see if it settles in or if I'll always feel slightly Mirror/Mirror about The post Transformers-infused-Spiderman. Yes, they made everything better, and yes, technically it is better-But I find it may take some getting used too...

EpcotServo's Updates #2.49- Uni Pressure
UNIVERSAL
-Minigolf looks nearly Minidone
-Crowds were medium to heavy.
-Got stuck on Forbidden Journey for the first time, of course on the back and nearly upsidedown. Yeah, while calling 911 is crazy, being stuck there for even just a minute is pretty bad.
-Face capture is still broken/missing on Forbidden Journey. Been gone awhile now.
-Spiderman is closed, and the rehab wall features silly wordings.
-USF has Universal 100 signs on some lamps.
-Did not get unnecessarily sprayed with water while riding The Simpsons. In Universal of course, this only means it was broken, not that there was no need to be sprayed with water.
-And speaking of water, I think they should really start promoting their lagoon show. There's absolutely no signs or coverage of it inside the park. To most guests, it just looks like event setup and they pay it no mind. Why not put up a sign or something? They did this for World of Color, let alone video blogs and updates. Seems kind of a waste.
-Oh, and Despicable Me Ride is a thing that's happening I guess.
-The Citywalk Coke Music Centrifuge is sadly covered up. May never see the silly spinny screen again.
-Fun things were fun!

EpcotServo's Updates #2.48- A Bridge to the Cloudy Skies
IOA
-Crowds and Weather were neutral
-The face capture on Forbidden Journey hasn't worked in awhile
-Spiderman did not get all messed up this time (*See previous Updates)
-ALL the projectors except for the domes are now digital of some sort.
-Poseidon's Fury is still such a silly show with a bunch of amazing things in it.
-The Water Vortex is still incredibly amazing/scary in that you still imagine it failing and soaking you with icky lake water.
-Our guide in the show sounded like Elder Price from the Book of Mormon
-DARKANON!
-The Mini Golf thing is starting to get landscaping and such.
-The comic book shop in Super Hero Island has a Captain America guitar.
-Another thing I forgot

EpcotServo's Updates #2.46- And your Park is Themed
UNIVERSAl
-Crowds were high, and annoying
-They were moving about barges for the new lagoon show. Now there are 4. One at lagoon end, one before Richter's, one by San Fransisco, and one by Amity.
-Amity is walled off, except for the shark photo-op, which is crazy popular even though the land is closed.
-The new line set up in Forbidden Journey is an absolute mess. Now all persons with or without bags enter the line to the left of the entry gates, which snakes all the way back and uses the eternity of the extended and super-extended queue. Basically You'll wait 50 minutes to an hour before you even get your bag in the locker, then wait another 30 to 40 in the normal queue. Basically instead of fixing things, it's somehow turned into a bigger clusterfail of crowd management.
-Face capture wasn't working in the soul-sucking department.
-Words
